Devin Singletary Texans contract: How much will former Bills RB earn in 2023?
Devin Singletary became the latest free agent running back to sign with a new team. The former Buffalo Bill reached an agreement on a one-year deal, worth up to $3.75 million, with the Houston Texans.
Singletary was the Bills' third-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He had the most productive season of his four-year career during the 2022-23 campaign.
He's averaged 4.6 yards per carry in each of the last two seasons while rushing for over 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns. In addition, he has added 78 catches for 508 yards and two touchdowns.
Singletary will now join a backfield that features second-year running back Dameon Pierce. As a fourth-round pick, Pierce had a very productive season. He was the Texans' leading rusher with 939 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 30 catches for 165 yards and a touchdown.
The Texans will have a solid running back group that will see a lot of Pierce and Singletary.
Devin Singletary's career earnings
In four seasons, Singletary has earned a total of $6.1 million. After this season, he will have made nearly $10 million in his NFL career.
The running back will be able to test the market again next off-season, hoping for a long-term deal if he has a successful 2023 campaign with the Houston Texans.
Houston Texans' busy off-season continues with signings of Devin Singletary and Dalton Schultz
The Houston Texans have been very active this off-season. Moments before signing Devin Singletary, they agreed to terms with former Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz.
They also extended tackle Laremy Tunsil, making him the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL. The team also agreed to terms with DB Jimmie Ward and DT Sheldon Rankins, while trading away wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
The Texans will also very likely elect a quarterback at pick number two in the draft. They have the chance to become one of the most improved teams in 2023.
