Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel explains ‘f–ked up’ aspect of Tyreek Hill’s detainment in handcuffs

The South Florida police detained Tyreek Hill hours before the Miami Dolphins' season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The star wide receiver was reportedly cited for reckless driving and allegedly got into a verbal altercation with the police officers at the scene.

In videos that went viral on social media, Hill was seen in handcuffs and on the ground. The police department was heavily criticized for allegedly mishandling the situation, which forced them to release multiple statements and also led to one of the Miami-Dade police officers being placed on administrative duty.

In the latest statement, the South Florida police department said that Hill was not cooperative with the officers. They also mentioned that even after putting handcuffs on the Dolphins star, he refused to sit on the ground, due to which the police had to redirect him.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was extremely upset with how the entire situation played out. He recently said:

“It’s been hard to not find myself more upset the more I think about it... The thing that f**ks me up being quite frank is I don’t know exactly what that feels like... Super proud of our guys understanding the civic responsibility of a platform.”

Not only Tyreek Hill but Calais Campbell was also put in handcuffs by the police. The Dolphins' defensive lineman stood for his teammate, and both of them were let go in time to play in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The way the police treated Hill has sparked a large uproar, and more details about the entire situation are likely to emerge in the coming days.

Despite getting detained by the police hours before the agme, Tyreek Hill had a great outing against the Jaguars. He finished the game with seven receptions for 130 yards on 12 targets and scored a sensational 80-yard touchdown.

After the touchdown, Hill did a handcuffs-based celebration, and it went viral all over on social media. The Dolphins star is one of the most entertaining players in the league, and he didn't waste the opportunity to pull off a moment that will be remembered forever.

He helped the Dolphins win the game 20-17 and will be ready to play the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football in Week 2.
