Dolphins star Odell Beckham Jr,'s ex Lauren Wood says co-parenting son Zydn made them "better humans"
Parenthood is an extraordinary experience that holds the power to change a human upside down. Many people will agree, including Miami Dolphins star Odell Beckham Jr.'s ex, Lauren Wood.
Odell Beckham Jr. shares son Zydn with Lauren Wood, and the couple has been co-parenting him since their separation. In an exclusive interview with E! News, Wood opened up about her co-parenting experience with the wide receivers and how it has made the couple "better humans."
"Co-parenting is definitely something to navigate. I think we do a really good job at it because Zydn is the happiest baby. He is so smart and just lovable. I feel like that's a testament to our own success of co-parenting, especially being bicoastal," Wood said.
"He's working on the East Coast, and I'm working on the West Coast, so Zydn is getting a lot of travel time. It teaches both of us to become better humans. You're working with somebody else's schedule, and you're responsible for a whole other human," Wood added.
Even though the early parenting days were quite challenging for the couple, especially Wood, she eventually adapted to her new life. During the interview, the singer-songwriter described motherhood almost as a superpower. She said:
"It's like my mind grew a third hemisphere that's only about Zydn. My capabilities multiplied. My Zydn hemisphere is the fastest, most creative, problem-solving part of my brain. I'm entertaining, I'm animated, I'm engaged all the time. I'm finally getting back to myself and getting back to a balance of being able to do things for myself."

In November 2021, Lauren Wood and Odell Beckham Jr. announced that they were expecting their first child together. In January 2022, the couple organized a grand baby shower before welcoming their son in February. Beckham Jr. broke the news with an Instagram post attached to a family picture.
The couple parted ways in September 2023. Even though they separated, they decided to co-parent Zydn. Earlier this year, Beckham Jr. and Wood spent time together at Zydn's second birthday party. Wood shared a birthday recap on Instagram, featuring pictures with the wide receiver.
"Almost a week late, but I still can’t get over how much fun we had celebrating my baby’s birthday!! I can’t believe I have a [two] year old. Family is all that matters on days like this, and I’m grateful for mine. Zydn is so loved and such a happy kid," Wood captioned her Instagram post.
A few months after breaking up with Wood, Beckham Jr. was linked with Kim Kardashian. The couple dated for several months before separating. The wide receiver is currently single and looking forward to playing with his new team, the Miami Dolphins, in the upcoming season.
