Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith slams Buffalo, takes aim at Bills fans: “The worst place you can be in the world”
After being released by the Atlanta Falcons this off-season, tight end Jonnu Smith signed a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Smith returns to the AFC North as he was a member of the New England Patriots for two seasons from 2021-22.
One of Miami's and New England's rivals in the division is the Buffalo Bills. Returning to the division, it seems as if Smith is carrying over the same bad blood he's had with the Bills over the years.
On The Dive Bar Podcast, the newly-acquired Dolphins tight end lashed out his hatred for the Bills, specifically the city of Buffalo, dubbing it the "worst place to be."
"That's why the fans be hating so much because they want to be down here [in Miami]," Smith said. "You ever went to Buffalo? Oh, my gosh, man. I don't know how those dudes do it. I don't know how they did it. I don't know how they did it, man. Going from anywhere in the country, man, and going to Buffalo. It got to be the worst place you could be."
Smith has played the Bills seven times in his career. As a member of the Patriots, the Bills went 4-1 against Smith and the Patriots. The Bills have held him to just nine catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns in those seven games.
This season, Jonnu Smith and the Dolphins will meet the Bills twice as the rivalry may be turned up notch come Sept. 12 in Week 2 when the Dolphins host the Bills.
Jonnu Smith and the Miami Dolphins have the potential to be one of the best in 2024
Last season, the Miami Dolphins led the NFL in offensive yards with 6,822 and led the league averaging 29.2 points per game.
All across the board, the Dolphins are loaded on offense. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has progressed each season and led the league in passer rating this past season. Miami also has a two-headed monster backfield in Raheem Mostert, who rushed for 18 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards last season and second-year back De'Von Achane, who had eight touchdowns in 11 games as a rookie.
Everyone knows the Dolphins have one of the best one-two WR duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. They've also added Odell Beckham Jr., Jonnu Smith and Braxton Berrios on offense this season.
In another year with head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins' offense has no reason not to be a top-five offense this season, and they have a shot at boasting the best offense for two years in a row.
