Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill sends bold message to fantasy football managers with Tua Tagovailoa's possible Week 8 return

Tyreek Hill has been one of the most popular players within the fantasy football realm for years. But his Miami Dolphins have not been able to play to that level in 2024.

But with star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa ending his stint on injured reserve after a concussion and being cleared to return to the field on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, things may return to usual levels soon.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the eight-time Pro Bowl wideout told his fantasy backers:

“We’re back, baby! Strike up the f***ing band! Start me this week! Let's go!”

He also reacted to practicing with Tagovailoa again:

"I just had a big cheese on my face because it felt so good. Y'all don't know what it do it to me, man."

According to CBS Sports, Hill has scored just 35 fantasy points this season, a majority of them (26) in Week 1 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars - the only game that Tagovailoa has finished so far.

He has struggled to create chemistry with either Skylar Thompson or Tyler Huntley, which makes the one-time Pro Bowler's return good news for his stock.

Tyreek Hill not alarmed by 2024 statistical slump

For the past few seasons, the Dolphins have been known for their record-breaking offense, one marked by insane speed and prolificness. But in 2024 that seems to have disappeared, with opposing defenses having realized that they can win by slowing down the game.

The most visible indicator of this is Tyreek Hill's receiving numbers in the last four games, which Tua Tagovailoa did not play:

  • 40 at Seattle Seahawks
  • 23 vs. Tennessee Titans
  • 69 vs. New England Patriots
  • 8 at Indianapolis Colts

By contrast, he had 130 yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars.

However, Hill is not bothered by this steep decline. In that same presser, he said:

“My mindset will be the same mindset every week. I don’t care how many touches I have. If we had won the game, 17-16, and I had two targets, I would have been fine with that... I’m at a point in my life and career where the most important thing is to win games. If the stats come, they come.”

He continued:

“This month has been great for me... Football is football. You are going to have ups and downs. I understand how it goes. I’m not going to lose my head over football. I’m going to control what I can control, which is running the right routes, being in the right spot, being a good teammate.”

The Dolphins-Cardinals game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
