“Don’t play with my son’s name” – Damar Hamlin’s father deletes alleged tweet threatening NFL fan for insulting Bills safety
Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest in January 2023 in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in one of the scariest on-field incidents in NFL history. When he returned to the gridiron the following year, he was praised as a hero, and rightly so.
However, one NFL fan decided to make light of Hamlin's situation and cracked a joke at his expense, hiding behind a parody account on X (formerly Twitter).
"MURDER: #Jets WR Garrett Wilson almost just KILLED #Bills S Damar Hamlin for a 2nd time. Should the NFL DEMAND Damar to play wrapped in bubble wrap? 😳"
During the New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills game, Garrett Wilson, running with the ball, was pushed out of bounds when Damar Hamlin rammed into him. The parody account took a dig at this, as Hamlin's helmet flew off after the collision.
Mario Hamlin, Damar's father, was not too pleased with the insult and threatened the fan for making such an insensitive comment. However, he later deleted his post, but another fan managed to capture it before it was deleted.
"Should we bury your mom in bubble wrap, Don't play with my son' name or his situation"
Aaron Rodgers gives Damar Hamlin a heartwarming message
The Bills may have defeated the 4x NFL MVP by merely three points, but he wasn't going to walk off without giving credit where it was due. He gave Damar Hamlin a jersey. But it wasn't just any jersey. He had signed it and even penned a heartfelt message on it.
"You're an inspiration to me and millions," Rodgers told Hamlin. "Much love, my brother!"
Damar was hit by Bengals receiver Tee Higgins on the chest during their game on January 6, which also happened to be a Monday Night Football game just like the Jets game.
He went crashing to the ground and remained unresponsive. CPR was administered and he was finally revived. But he had to spend four days in the hospital before he was taken off the ventilator.
In the upcoming week, the Bills will take on the Tennessee Titans. Will they manage to record a second consecutive win or will they fall to the 1-4 Titans?
