"They were pretty good" - Doug Pederson enjoyed cheesesteaks Eagles gifted him for beating Cowboys
The Jacksonville Jaguars had a huge Week 15 overtime victory as they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 40-34.
The win kept the Jaguars (6-8) alive for a playoff spot in the AFC South. The win also gave the Eagles (13-2) the lead in the tightly contested NFC East division.
The Eagles were so grateful for the Jaguars' victory that they sent coach Doug Pederson and the Jaguars 35 cheesesteaks from Philly as a thank you for beating Dallas (12-4).
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Pederson talked about being gifted the cheesesteaks and joked about being hungry that day.
“They were pretty good," Pederson said. "I said thanks. It was great because we were all hungry and starving and needed something to eat that day. We were just trying to win a football game, honestly."
He then added that it was a great win for his Jaguars.
" I know the implications for the Eagles at the time, and they’re obviously battling the Cowboys for that division and everything now," Pederson said. "It was just a great win for us, quite honestly. Our guys played extremely well in that game. Something I guess to commemorate the win.”
Doug Pederson enjoys the Jaguars being under the spotlight as they will play for the division title in Week 18
The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have won four of their last five games, are one of the NFL's hottest teams right now.
Jacksonville (7-8) is in first place in the AFC South heading into Week 17.
Doug Pederson knows that the Jaguars are under pressure as they face a do-or-die game next Sunday against the Tennessee Titans (7-9).
“You kind of want it, honestly," Pederson said. "You want it. You want to see how we’re going to respond, coaches and players. It starts in practice. It starts today. You’ve worked hard to get in this position, a lot of ups and downs, but you guys have seen sort of the incremental progress throughout the course of the year.
"That’s why you play these games. Each game matters. You want to see how the guys will respond in moments like this.”
Jacksonville faced two division opponents to finish out the regular season. They will be on the road in Houston facing the Texans (2-12-1) on Sunday and will finish the season against the Titans for the AFC South title in Week 18.
