Drake Maye's girlfriend Ann Hudson hyped as rookie lands Patriots starting QB job

Ann Hudson is overjoyed after her boyfriend, Drake Maye, was announced as the starting QB for the New England Patriots. The rookie quarterback will get his first taste as a starter in the NFL on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

The decision to name Maye became necessary when the nine-year veteran, Jacoby Brissett, led the Patriots to a 1-4 start this season. The Patriots are hoping that Maye, who was the third overall pick in the 2024 draft, will finally be able to turn around the fallen dynasty's fortunes.

Hudson, who has been with Maye since middle school, congratulated her boyfriend on Instagram. She reshared a post by Adam Schefter with a picture of Maye and captioned it:

There was much speculation before the season began who Jerod Mayo, Bill Belichick's successor, would name as the starting QB for the 2024 season. Many thought it would be Maye, who the Pats had signed earlier this year.

But then, Mayo and the Pats decided to start Brissett.

Ann Hudson celebrated Drake Maye's first touchdown

Drake Maye will go down in the franchise's history as the seventh Patriots quarterback to make his first career start since 2000. He will only be one of three Patriots players to start in his rookie year.

But he has played snaps for the Patriots before. Not in any regular season game, though. The Patriots faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a preseason game at Gillette Stadium.

Although the Patriots lost narrowly by one point, Ann Hudson was still happy. Maye scored his first touchdown in an NFL game, and his girlfriend hyped him by sharing a clip of his TD run on Instagram.

"LET'S GOOOOO!" Hudson captioned the IG story.

The Patriots won their only game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but Mayo called the low-score win "unsustainable." Maye's new role could be his attempt at finding a more permanent solution to the Pats' offensive woes.

Can Drake Maye turn around the season for the six-time Super Bowl-winning team or are Patriots fans in for another disastrous year?
