His contract extension with the team comes just a few weeks after fellow tight end Mike Gesicki left in free agency and signed with AFC East rival New England Patriots. With Gesicki's exit and a new contract extension, the former Notre Dame tight end looks to have an even bigger role in the Dolphins offense this season.

Durham Smythe Madden rating

According to the most updated version of the Madden video game stats, the Dolphins tight end has a rating of 68. His speed, acceleration and agility all contributed to his score.

That could be in part due to the lack of production Smythe had with a multi-tight end scheme that the Miami Dolphins had the past few seasons. He should now see an increase in production, which should in turn get his Madden rating even higher.
