Eagles’ C.J. Gardner-Johnson sends a warning over Travis Hunter’s NFL draft profile

Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson warned about Colorado Buffaloes two-way player Travis Hunter's NFL draft profile. Hunter is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Hunter is a shutdown corner and a star wide receiver, and many believe he could be a top-five pick in the NFL. However, Gardner-Johnson doesn't think Hunter can be a two-way player in the NFL. He responded to a post by Robert Griffin III, where the latter praised Hunter.

"I respect your perspective! But bro we grown men here !!! Ain’t nobody going both ways and cooking grown men. FL A different game RGIII! I love the young guy great player but NFL is a monster!!," Gardner-Johnson wrote.

It will be interesting to see if Hunter will be able to remain a two-way player in the NFL. With how hard and physical the NFL is, Gardner-Johnson doubts that will be the case in a year's time.

In Colorado's Week 1 win over North Dakota State, Hunter recorded seven receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns. He added three tackles on defense.

Gardner-Johnson signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason after spending the 2023 season with the Detroit Lions. He played for Philadelphia in the 2022 season.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson says being physical is key to his game

C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be a big part of the Eagles defense in 2024.

Gardner-Johnson is projected to start at strong safety for Philadelphia, and ahead of the season, he said his physical play is a key attribute of his game.

"Honestly, I like being physical," Gardner-Johnson said, via the team website. "Growing up watching Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, and really watching the old Florida Gators really made me want to be physical.
"Yeah, like my Ahmad Black, Major Wright. That was really my first glimpse because I went to the spring game. And that's when I was like, 'OK, I want to be a physical football player, somebody who can knock somebody's head off!'"

With the Lions last season, he recorded 17 tackles and one interception in three games. With the Eagles in 2022, C.J. Gardner-Johnson recorded 67 tackles and six interceptions in 12 games.

Philadelphia will open its 2024 NFL season in Brazil on Sept. 6 against the Green Bay Packers.
