Eagles legend Jason Kelce’s ex-teammate believes man who aimed homophobic slur at Travis Kelce for dating Taylor Swift got off easy

Jason Kelce has the full support of his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate, Chris Long, after smashing a heckler's phone in response to provocation. Long, without hesitation, stated that the heckler was lucky that Jason Kelce did not react with more aggression.

"It could have been a lot worse for that guy if there weren't a million people around and Jason wasn't so damn patient," he said.

In a clip from the “This Is Football” podcast posted on X by Kevin Clark, Chris Long has weighed in more on the situation. He said Jason's rising fame, first during his NFL career and next with his "New Heights" podcast, has made him a "soft" target.

Explaining how the internet culture has given rise to a pervasive desire for attention among young people, often at the expense of others, Long said:

"I feel for my guy ... Everything's about clout now."

Long also expressed concern over the decline in respect among people, which he believes has negatively affected real-life interactions.

That said, the Eagles veteran was being protective of his younger brother and Kansas City Chiefs TE, Travis Kelce, after the man passed a homophobic slur at him, saying:

“Kelce, how does it feel that your brother is a f***** for dating Taylor Swift?”

Jason, who was in no mood to put up with the jeers wasted no time to teach the heckler a lesson. Smashing the person's phone, the former NFL center said:

“Who’s the f***** now?”

Apart from voicing his opinions on the podcast, Long also took to X and echoed a similar point of view. He wrote:

"Kid probably spun this positively. “Jason Kelce smashed my phone.” Generation of clout chasers. Wish there were more serious repercussions for violating but alas… an assault charge can ruin your weekend."

In other news, Jason Kelce has looked back on the day and finally spoken about it.

Jason Kelce was compelled to reiterate with anger

Days after the incident, Jason Kelce expressed regret over the avoidable confrontation with the heckler. On ESPN's Monday Night Countdown, Kelce said:

"I'm not happy with anything that took place. I'm not proud of it."

He continued:

"In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don't think that that's a productive thing. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn't have."

Jason proclaimed how he has been taught to treat people with "common decency and respect" and said that he is going to "keep doing that moving forward" despite not living up to those standards two days earlier.
