Eagles star rips Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over delay in CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott contract extensions
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb continues to hold out from training camp as he awaits a contract extension. It's unclear if a deal will ever get done, as the Cowboys don't appear to be in a rush at this point.
Dallas' inability to extend CeeDee Lamb has gained criticism from one of their biggest NFC East rivals. Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay spoke out on his "Big Play Slay" podcast about how shocked he is that the Cowboys haven't been willing and able to sign Lamb yet.
“It would be hard for me to play for an organization like that. A guy that’s just not willing to take care of his guys,” Slay said (per the Philadelphia Inquirer).
While criticizing Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, Darius Slay also took the time to credit to Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman.
“I know y’all see how Howie gets stuff done. You can see when a team and an organization that appreciates what you do for their team. They take care of you,” Slay said of Eagles GM Howie Roseman.
Darius Slay's comments on his podcast come just about a week after he criticized Jerry Jones on X (formerly Twitter) for saying that he didn't have a sense of urgency to get the deal done.
"That’s wild! Bra deserves his bag!!"
Jerry Jones clarified his stance on CeeDee Lamb contract negotiations
Last week, everyone in the NFL world was shocked to hear Jerry Jones say that he didn't have much urgency in getting CeeDee Lamb back on the field. The wide receiver, who is one of the of the important weapons on the Cowboys' offense, replied to the notion with a 'lol' on X.
Jones tried to clarify his statement this week by saying that he is actively working to get Lamb signed.
“We’re conscientiously working to get something done.”-Jerry Jones
Jones has been questioned about his motives heading into the 2024 NFL season. After last season's loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round, Jones implied that he was 'all in' in building a winning roster for this upcoming season.
CeeDee Lamb isn't the only offensive player, who is looking for an extension. quarterback Dak Prescott will probably be a free agent next season if a deal isn't worked out by then.
