Eli Manning reveals message to 11-year-old daughter in hostile NFC environment - “Whatever you hear in Philly stays in Philly”

Eli Manning is no stranger to the Philadelphia Eagles and their hostile environment. He's played against the New York Giants' rivals a total of 31 times in his NFL career.

He made a return to Lincoln Financial Stadium when the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Giants in the divisional round of the playoffs.

When he retired from football in 2019, the 42-year-old swore never to go back to Philly for a football game, but that changed when the Giants had a chance to advance to the NFC Championship game.

Manning said on ESPN's "ManningCast" last Monday night that he had to break his promise and make the trip to Philly.

"I said when I retired I'd never go back to a football game in Philly. But I think I have to break that promise. I can't wait to see the amount of double birds I get. Could break a record."

When Manning was introduced at the game, he received an expected welcome from many fans who cussed, gave him the finger, and used other inappropriate gestures.

While he's used to this kind of behavior, his 11-year-old daughter, who went to the game with him, certainly wasn't. Manning had a few words of wisdom for the little one:

"Yeah, you know, I felt for the 49ers. It's always a unique experience with those [Eagles] fans you know. I was obviously there, I got my normal greeting, they have a way of doing it. My 11-year-old daughter, she definitely saw some new gestures and got a few new vocabulary words added to what she normally knew, and I said, 'hey, whatever you see in Philadelphia stays in Philadelphia, you can't take that back to school, we don't need ya getting expelled or anything."'
After taking his daughter to the #Giants - #Eagles game, Eli Manning told her: "Whatever you see or hear in Philadelphia stays in Philadelphia." More with Eli on the @AP_NFL Podcast: bit.ly/appod203

While the Eagles defeated the Giants 38-7 in the divisional round game that Manning attended, the man in question saw more success than Philadelphia did in his playing days.

Manning won two Super Bowls in his career between 2004-2019 and the Eagles won just one in that same span. Their super Bowl victory came the year before Manning's final season.

In head-to-head matchups, the Eagles have the upper hand as they boast a 21-10 record over Manning's Giants.

It's official. Eli Manning retires with a 10-21 overall record against the #Eagles

There's certainly no love lost between Manning and the Eagles, and Philly will always welcome him back in their unique style.
