Emmanuel Acho "infuriated" by Colts' mistreatment of Anthony Richardson
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered a right hip injury during Sunday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After laying on the ground in pain, he missed a few plays and then returned to the game. His return didn't last long, as Joe Flacco replaced him for the remainder of the game.
On Monday, Emmanuel Acho said on "The Facility" that he didn't agree with the way the Indianapolis Colts treated their second-year quarterback. He said that he didn't feel there was a rush to tend to his injury.
Acho also said that the Colts' decision to then choose a play that had Anthony Richardson run with the ball after injuring his hip was also poor judgment.
"I was shocked and disgusted with how the Colts handled Anthony Richardson," Acho said. "One, he's your quarterback. Two, he's your top five pick. Three, he's supposed to be your promise and your future, and you have no regard at all whatsoever for his body. You have no regard at all whatsoever for his health.
"Where is the care for the dude's body, even if you don't care about him as a person, at least care about him as an object of your future. Even if you don't care about his health, at least care about the fact that you invested a first round picking the dude. I was shocked. I was disgusted at the aspect that they would have such disregard for their own property, their own top five pick, it really infuriated me."
Emmanuel Acho felt the Indianapolis Colts took a risk with their quarterback's health when they allowed him to return to the game.
Anthony Richardson's injury status
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson didn't return in Sunday's Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Richardson suffered a hip pointer injury, escaping major injury. An estimate of when he may return to his starting role is unknown at this time.
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback suffered an AC joint injury in his shoulder in 2023 that cut his rookie season short. The fourth overall draft pick from the 2023 NFL Draft was looking to bounce back after last season.
The Colts (2-2) are looking ahead to an AFC South matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
