ESPN insider ‘baited, triggered’ by Aaron Rodgers’ ‘flippant’ tease regarding Davante Adams reunion
There's been speculation of an Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams reunion almost since both players departed the Green Bay Packers last offseason. Rodgers requested and got a trade to the New York Jets, while Adams landed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Earlier this week, the Raiders star receiver appeared on Up & Adams and spoke about potentially reuniting with Rodgers, saying the QB has been in his ear about it. Speculation heated up Thursday when Rodgers was asked a similar question at the American Century Championship. He said he can't wait to play with Adams again.
Appearing on Get Up on Friday, NFL reporter Jeff Darlington gave his opinion on Aaron Rodgers' recent comments, saying he feels baited and triggered by Rodgers' tease of a reunion with Davante Adams:
“I feel baited. I feel trolled. I feel triggered. I feel all those new-age words that Aaron Rodgers would probably use to describe my emotional state right now. He’s on his phone just making a flippant comment on Davante Adams. I want to just push it aside and say he’s being playful. But at the same time, does he deserve the benefit of the snark?”
Las Vegas Raiders have made it clear that they don't have any plans to trade Davante Adams
While Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets, as well as other teams may want a piece of Davante Adams, the Raiders made it clear again this offseason that they don't have any plans of trading him.
According to ESPN, the Jets reached out to the Raiders during the NFL trade deadline in hopes of acquiring Adams. A trade did not happen.
This offseason, during the NFL Combine, Raiders general manager Tom Telesco reiterated that there are no plans to trade Adams, saying, "He's a Raider."
Adams seemed to have double-downed on that stance when he told ESPN during Super Bowl week that it was "definitely exciting" to see the Raiders hire offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who was his offensive coordinator in Green Bay when he entered the league in 2014.
There's a long time from now until the 2024 NFL trade deadline, which expires on Nov. 5, a week later than last year's deadline. Anything can certainly happen and minds can change over the summer.
While the Jets and Aaron Rodgers failed to get Davante Adams last season, they signed free agent wide out Mike Williams this offseason to a one-year contract worth up to $15 million.
