ESPN's Stephen A. Smith shuts down false claims about opposing Kamala Harris' presidential run
Stephen A. Smith has shut down false claims about his views on Kamala Harris and her ongoing presidential campaign.
As an NFL analyst for years, Smith is well-known for his views and opinions about sports events and everything related to them. However, a recent tweet claimed that Smith said Harris was 'not qualified' to run for President.
Smith quote-tweeted the video and wrote:
"This caption is an outright damn lie. Here is exactly what I said on this video……plus I’m going to touch it again on today’s edition of “The Stephen A. Smith Show.” #LyingBastards."
The original quotes, as clarified by Smith, were different.
"All of this sets the stage for presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. The vice president now has the opportunity to address the nation and lay out her vision for America," Smith said on his show. "Let me say this: you'd better show up." [1:25]
He added that everyone isn't going to be open-minded, even hinting that Harris needs to show up more and do more interviews.
"She's getting my vote, and I support her, but all of this running and hiding and having, you know, a rallies, and thinking that's a press conference and avoiding one-on-one interviews," Smith said. "No, no, you don't get to do that." [08:58]
While supporting Harris' campaign, Smith put forth a few opinions and demands of his own. Smith also doesn't want Harris to 'follow up' on Donald Trump's speech from last month.
