"Everybody's on the microscope" - Aaron Glenn makes feelings known on bringing Aaron Rodgers back in 2025 with the Jets
Aaron Glenn was named as head coach of the New York Jets last week and was introduced to the media on Monday. The first-time head coach has plenty of work to do as he looks to turn around a team that finished 5-12 last season.
He addressed the elephant in the room, which is the status of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
In comments shared by SNY Jets, Glenn was asked about the process of bringing back Rodgers. He replied:
"We've already texted Aaron and me and [general manager Darren Mougey] are going to sit and watch every game tape there is and then we're going to look at the whole roster. This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers, folks. This is about the roster."
Glenn continued:
"We plan on building the best roster that we can so whatever that may be - guard, tackle, defensive tackle - that's what we're evaluating. And listen, everybody is under the microscope. That's just what it is, so we're going to do the best we can to make sure we build the best roster."
Despite the team's struggles, Rodgers had a solid season from an individual standpoint. He finished with 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 63.0% of his pass attempts. The 41-year-old ranked eighth in passing yards and tied for seventh in passing touchdowns.
Aaron Glenn shared more insight on Aaron Rodgers decision
Aaron Glenn also addressed Aaron Rodgers' future with the New York Jets during his introductory press conference. The Jets' official website shared his comments, where he said:
"Me and Moug are going to sit and talk and go over the whole roster. I would tell you now that is going to be the answer to a number of questions when it comes to the roster in general. We're looking forward to that process. I can't tell you how long that process will be, but the thing is we're going to make sure we get the right answer. And we're not going to rush to this answer. We're going to get the right answer." [h/t newyorkjets.com]
Rodgers has not made a public decision regarding his future, whether that is in New York or elsewhere. The future Pro Hall of Famer, who has spent 20 seasons in the NFL, has hinted at retirement at various points over the past several seasons.
