Ex-Colts HC offers words of wisdom to Malik Nabers after Giants WR's viral strip club incident
Former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano had some wise words for Malik Nabers after the Giants wide receiver was filmed at a strip club. The rookie was seen throwing stashes of money into the crowd and looking pretty happy about it.
But Chuck Pagano was not so thrilled and asked Malik Nabers to sacrifice now. He said that his team, teammates, and family are counting on him to succeed and he just needs to wait to reap the rewards if he hunkers down now. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, the ex-Colts coach commented,
"Yo! Young King. You have the rest of your life to do whatever you want. Family, Teammates, Giants Brass etc… counting on you to be AVAILABLE!!! Sacrifice now. Will be well worth the wait. TRUST ME!!"
Former Giants Super Bowl champion defends Malik Nabers
While Malik Nabers might be getting strays from Chuck Pagano for his behavior, he has not been all alone. YouTuber Primetime Hitla was, of course, physically present with the wide receiver at the club, as identified from the video.
But former kicker Lawrence Tynes, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants, had a different take to what the former Colts coach had to say. He was of the opinion that Malik Nabers is an adult and therefore nobody should have any comments on that as long as it is not illegal. He posted his support for the rookie on X, writing,
"Malik Nabers is an adult and can do as he chooses. The shoe show is a legal business establishment for those of age to enjoy. Good for Malik."
It shows the rookie wide receiver that there are different schools of thought when it comes to former NFL achievers reacting to his video in the strip club. But what it should also show him is that anything he does will be scrutinized by the press and there will be people commenting on it. He is currently playing for a flagship NFL team, which lies in a media market that is arguably the toughest to handle in the country.
As one of the most highly-touted wide receivers to come out of college and tasked with playing for a franchise that gave us Odell Beckham Jr., he does not have much room for error. He would do well to ensure that whatever he does off the field has no impact on his rookie season because the presently success-starved Giants fanbase may not be so forgiving.
