Ex-Patriots WR Julian Edelman pinpoints sweet landing spot for Bill Belichick's next NFL coaching job
Bill Belichick has his hands full at the moment. He has commitments to at least seven shows, and as the season progresses, those committments could increase. But will "football's greatest coach" return to the job he loves best? Julian Edelman and Colin Cowherd discussed Belichick's possible return to coaching.
But the main question was, which team would he coach? Edelman, a former Patriots wide receiver who played under Belichick, had a quick answer to that question: the New York Giants.
"I remember vividly anytime we played in New York, or we played the Giants, you could just see a little like jingle in Belichick's Spirit, because he loved talking about those old Giants teams, and he loved talking about that organization. You know, you could tell that he loved the New York Giants," Edelman said.
It's clear that Belichick has a soft spot for the Giants. He also has family in the northeast and for these reasons, he might sign a contract with the Giants in the coming years.
Earlier this year when Belichick left the New England Patriots, the Giants were touted as the destination for the 72-year-old. However, he ended up becoming an analyst instead.
Although Edelman did acknowledge current Giants coach Brian Daboll's caliber, he felt that quarterback Daniel Jones could learn a lot from the 8x Super Bowl winner.
Bill Belichick gives props to Tom Brady
On the "Pat McAfee Show," Belichick, who joined Brady in the media world after a stellar football career, reflected on his time with Brady. He said:
"I would say with Tom, I learned a lot more from him than he learned from me, I'm sure."
Not many were expecting Belichick to make such a comment as people speculated that their relationship had turned sour in recent years. Not only that, Belichick went ahead and complimented Brady's commentary debut.
"I thought Tom was excellent."
Although Belichick hasn't signed up for any commentary gigs, he'll be breaking down games with Peyton Manning on the ManningCast, besides appearing every Monday on the the "Pat McAfee Show." His other commitments include "Inside the NFL," co-hosting the "Let’s Go!" podcast, the "Underdog Fantasy Show" and acting as a strategic advisor with "The 33rd Team" website.
But it's not impossible that he won't return to the gridiron. Afterall, Tom himself left retirement to play for the Buccaneers and even nabbed another Super Bowl. It remains to be seen if the coach will follow in the player's footsteps.
