Ex-Raider Isaac Rochell's wife Allison Kuch unsatisfied with new NFL kickoff rule
Isaac Rochell's wife, Allison Kuch, took to social media to ask fans about the new NFL kickoff rule. After multiple years with the 'classic' kickoff play, the league decided to see what was working for the XFL, a league founded by WWE owner Vince McMahon and later purchased by a group involving Dwyane Johnson.
The rule was approved by the owners earlier this year, as they aim to encourage more returns and reduce injury risks. This is an intriguing idea on paper, but in an Instagram story, Kuch thought it felt 'weird' after watching it for the first time in the NFL during the Chiefs vs Ravens game.
"what do we think of this new kickoff rule? feels weird," she wrote on Instagram.
The new kickoff rule places defenders and tackles closer on the field and away from the kicker. Every player on the kicking unit must line up at the opponent's 40-yard line instead of the point of the kickoff. No less than nine players must line up in the 'setup zone' between their own 35 and 30-yard lines.
No player can move until the ball hits the ground or the hands of a returner in the landing zone (between the receiving team's 20-yard line and the goal line). The closeness of both units prevents players from reaching high velocities, reducing the possibility of high-impact collisions.
The season is just starting, and perhaps with more time, Allison Kuch and more fans will get used to this new rule. However, the first game of the season didn't show promising results, as nine of 11 combined kickoffs ended in touchbacks.

Before this post, she had explained she was in a tough spot due to several bad things happening to her. It's unclear if she's gotten better since that moment, but the post about the new NFL kickoff rule suggests that Allison Kuch is at least trying to focus on different things.
