EXCLUSIVE: "Not even worried about any outside noise" - Jets' Will Parks reveals how team is coping with expectations this season
The New York Jets have surpassed their win total from last season through the first seven games of the 2022-2023 NFL season.
They have five wins, which surpasses last season's total of four, as they finished with one of the worst records in the league at 4-13.
Over seven weeks this season, they are 5-2 and are regarded as one of the top-10 teams in the league.
In an exclusive interview with the Sportskeeda team, Jets safety Will Parks spoke about how the team has remained humbled and isn't worried about outside noise following their success.
Parks said:
"To be honest, man, we're not even worried about any outside noise. You know we were more concerned about ourselves. We preach on it being about us each and every week. We can put in the work obviously and always living by the simple things and you know, creating a brotherhood, that bond, that bond type-room.
"So we kinda aren't too worried about unecessary outside noise, but it's more so about what we can do, how we can control the outcome of the games and what we can do moving forward to make sure that we got the best result at the end of the year."
Jets' Will Parks reveals how the Jets have been successful this year
Parks was asked what the difference was between the Jets team from a season ago and now. He said the difference is that everyone is buying in, understanding their roles, and imposing their wills on one another.
Parks said:
"To be honest, bro, a lot of guys in the locker room that's starting to understand the role, not just on his defense but on his team in general. So when you got a bunch of group of guys that buys into one thing. And that's just creating a culture, creating a foundation, creating everyday having a working mindset. And they're creating a winning culture. It just goes hand in hand with what what we do as a defense, man.
"So I mean, like I said, just guys imposing their wills on each other, not just, often supposedly with each other, everybody having accountability for each other. And then like I said, man, you know, we're just going out there together and some together and just trying to get the dub."
The Jets defense is in the top-10 in points per game with yardage allowed this season. They currently sit at second in the highly-competitive AFC East behind the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets are one of the biggest surprise teams of the season. The team could possibly make a run at the playoffs this season.
