“F&*k em”: Brett Favre lashes out after X post falsely claims RFK Jr. lost Secret Service detail after Donald Trump endorsement
Hall of Famer Brett Favre isn't too pleased with the media. The Green Bay Packers responded to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that falsely claimed that independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. had his Secret Service protection revoked after endorsing Donald Trump.
On August 23, Kennedy appeared at the former president's rally in Glendale, Arizona, and announced that he was taking his name off the ballot in 10 key battleground states, effectively bowing out of the presidential race. He also endorsed Trump for the upcoming election. It is standard protocol for Secret Service protection to be revoked after a candidate drops out of the presidential race.
The Secret Service protects current and former presidents, their families, foreign delegates, and major presidential and vice-presidential candidates. President Joe Biden had instructed the Secret Service to assign a security detail to RFK Jr. following the failed assassination attempt on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July. Previously, RFJ Jr. had been paying for his own private security.
Kennedy's decision to suspend his campaign led to him losing his Secret Service protection. However, Favre seemingly believes that the 70-year-old endorsing Trump was the reason behind his protection being pulled away.
Favre was incensed about it as well as the lack of criticism for the Democratic Party. On an X post falsely calling out the media and the party, the Hall of Famer replied:
"F&*k em’"
Like Kennedy, the Packers great is keen on seeing the former president winning the upcoming election and has even criticized the current regime.
Brett Favre approved of Donald Trump's stint as president
In an appearance on the "Fearless with Jason Whitlock" podcast in May 2023, the Hall of Famer voiced his frustration about the nation's state and claimed the country was better with Trump as the commander-in-chief. He said:
"I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I'm flawed just like the rest of 'em. We're all flawed. But, I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people in our country. Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, you name it."
Favre added that the former president put American citizens' interests above all else and he was unsure if that's the case under Biden's presidency. He also claimed that he "lost money" due to his support of Trump. However, Favre seems prepared to continue backing Trump in his bid for reelection.
