F1 star Daniel Ricciardo gets real on Josh Allen and Bills' Super Bowl window post Stefon Diggs' exit

Daniel Ricciardo still believes in Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, despite their roster overhaul.

The reigning AFC East lost Stefon Diggs, their most productive wide receiver in years, when he was traded to the Houston Texans during the offseason. In a pessimist's world, that would mean the end of their AFC East domination and run of Super Bowl contention.

However, the RB F1 driver is not one such pessimist. Speaking to Bleacher Report, he said:

"I think they're still in a window where they have the ability and the opportunity to go all the way. I'm excited."

He continued by referencing his friendship with the quarterback, which began in 2019 during the Monaco Grand Prix (Ricciardo was driving for Renault at the time):

"I've gotten to know Josh a little bit over the years. I think that if anyone is writing them off, that's where he will shine. ... He's definitely a people person, and that's only going to help in the situation they're in. I've got high hopes."

Daniel Ricciardo reveals desire to watch Josh Allen, Bills play at home

F1 drivers are some of the most well-traveled people on the planet, and Daniel Ricciardo is no exception. Throughout his career, he has gone to places like Miami, Las Vegas, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, in addition to Monaco and his home country of Australia.

However, there are certain places he has not seen yet because of his hectic schedule. And that includes none other than where Josh Allen and the Bills play: Buffalo.

In that same B/R interview, Daniel Ricciardo said that he wanted to go to Highmark Stadium while he still could:

"That's a thing I've been missing. I've seen them in New York and in London, but I need to go to a home game. I want to get to Highmark before they move on.
"Even though people say the stadium is outdated, and that's why they're building a new one, I want to go there and experience it and the grittiness. Fingers crossed, I somehow get there this year."

The current Highmark Stadium is expected to close in 2026, when its eponymous replacement just across it opens.

Unusually for a new NFL venue, the new Hignmark Stadium will not have a roof over the playing surface, in keeping with the team's desire to play games in the snow, aka the "cold-weather advantage".
