"Fake injury to be an underdog gimmick" - NFL fans unconvinced as Patrick Mahomes lands on Chiefs injury report

NFL fans took aim at Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs after the star quarterback landed on the injury report ahead of the AFC Championship Game.

Although Mahomes landed on the injury report with an ankle issue, he was a full participant in practice Wednesday. The ankle injury obviously isn't enough to limit him in practice which is why some fans are critical of him even being on the injury report.

"Fake injury to be an underdog gimmick again," a fan wrote.
'Line is about to move heavily in buffalos favor I bet, they using this as an excuse after the loss," a fan wrote.

Fans clearly think the Chiefs are putting Mahomes on the injury report as an excuse should they lose to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

"Quit this gimmick he’s obviously playing lol," a fan wrote.
"Idk why people fall for this s**t anymore. Every year at the end of the season. These kind games don’t work anymore," a fan added.

Fans believe Patrick Mahomes shouldn't be on the injury report if he's a full participant as no fans believe he truly is injured.

"Here comes the 'miraculous win with injured mahomes headlines' calling it now he aggregates it late 3rd quarter early 4th if it’s a close game," a fan added.
"Mahomes is such a warrior playing hurt like that," a fan wrote.

It's clear that NFL fans don't believe Patrick Mahomes is hurt and will be fine in the AFC Championship Game.

Patrick Mahomes said the Chiefs have to play their best football to beat the Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Entering the game, the Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites over the Bills. But, Mahomes said Kansas City needs to play its best football if it is going to win.

"I've played against Josh enough times to know that he's going to come out there and play great football, especially in those big moments,'' Mahomes said, via ESPN.
"I have to play my best football whenever I get the opportunity to and try to put our team in the best position to succeed. If that's limiting turnovers, if that's changing the field position, whatever that is, you have to find a way that day to win."

If Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs win, they will advance to the Super Bowl and look to become the first team in the modern NFL to win three straight titles.
