Former Bears star makes feelings clear about Caleb Williams after QB's viral video from Vikings defeat
It was another Sunday and another defeat for Caleb Williams. This time, the loss came in the division against the Minnesota Vikings. As the season has gone from bad to worse, it has gone from a year with potential Super Bowl aspirations to another year of troubleshooting the team.
As the front office works to figure out how to put someone around Williams that works, one former Bears star gave his opinion about the situation. Speaking on '670 The Score,' Olin Kreutz claimed the Bears quarterback felt guilt about the turmoil.
"For people to say, 'He's fine, this does not affect him, the chaos in that building.' You got to be kidding me. His OC is gone, his head coach is gone. You never feel good when a coach gets fired. You feel like you had something to do with it," he said.
The comments come in the wake of a viral video making the rounds online of Williams appearing mentally and physically fatigued, doubling over sideways on the bench.
Caleb Williams on pace for encouraging final season stat line
The Bears quarterback hasn't done much winning since Halloween, but his production offers a ray of hope for fans going forward. As long as he doesn't implode over the final three weeks, the quarterback is on pace for a 3:1 touchdown-int ratio, well over 3000 yards passing, and more than 20 touchdowns.
As a rookie, it can be hard to ask for more than that, even with the turmoil surrounding him. In comparison, Justin Fields threw for just seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his first season.
Of course, Fields didn't have access to players like DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen and D'Andre Swift. However, as good as Williams' rookie season stat line appears to be rounding out, the team simply isn't winning.
He is currently 4-10 and could drop to as far as 4-13 with a brutal final stretch to close the year. The Bears face the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions next.
Even one win over the last three games would be the cherry on top for Williams who hasn't met the sky-high expectations presented, but kept well above the bust level so far. Will Caleb Williams continue to climb in 2025?
