Former Cowboys All-Pro WR campaigns for Dallas to deliver $140,000,000 CeeDee Lamb contract

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is campaigning for the team to sign CeeDee Lamb to an extension. Lamb is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has been holding out for a new contract.

Lamb is set to make $17.991 million in 2024, but the star wide receiver is hoping to secure a long-term deal. The former first-round pick is one of the top receivers in the NFL and he wants to be paid like one.

With the NFL season set to begin shortly, Bryant, a former All-Pro, hopes Dallas signs Lamb to a contract that the Minnesota Vikings gave Justin Jefferson.

"Random @_CeeDeeThree (CeeDee Lamb) deserves a Justin Jefferson contract! No flaws on you pimp! Your value is worth the wait," Bryant wrote on X.

The Vikings gave Jefferson a four-year, $140 million extension, which makes him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL. The deal also includes $110 million in guaranteed money.

Although Jefferson is considered the top receiver in the NFL, Bryant thinks the Cowboys need to match the deal to get Lamb signed long-term.

However, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Lamb is hoping to get a deal worth $33 million per season, two million less than what Jefferson is making.

For now, no deal has been made, and with the Cowboys set to open its 2024 season on September 8 on the road against the Cleveland Browns, it's uncertain if Lamb will be playing in Week 1.

During training camp, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about CeeDee Lamb holding out and he said there was no urgency in getting a deal done.

After facing backlash from Lamb and fans, Jones clarified those comments before the Cowboys preseason game against the Rams.

"I think I got in trouble the other day when I said, 'Look, we're not urgent about CeeDee,'" Jones said in a pregame interview, via NFL.com. "Well, no one appreciates CeeDee being on the field any more than I do. But let me say this: He wouldn't be taking a snap out here today if he'd been here for [training camp].
"You gotta use your head when you expose key players. That gives the other younger players a chance to do it. We know exactly what CeeDee can do, and he's worked out with Dak. So we wouldn't have him out here. It has really not anything to do with his contract."

Last season, Lamb recorded 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
