Former Jets general manager pressures Jerry Jones to outlaw deep sea fishing for Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones already have one reason for conflict with the quarterback on pace to be asked to play with no guarantees beyond 2024. Now, concerning his deep sea fishing injury, former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum pressured Jerry Jones to create another conflict.
Speaking on Thursday's edition of "Get Up," Tannenbaum encouraged Jones to take away one of Prescott's hobbies:
"If you're going to go on a fishing trip and it's been sore doing that in the past, hey Dak, if I was your agent, if I was GM of the Cowboys, I'd tell you, 'go find something else to do. Don't go deep sea fishing.' This season is too important to you, to us." (1:05)
Of course, fishing might be one of the safest outdoor hobbies. There isn't much movement or maneuvering required. However, it might be too dangerous for a nearly age 31 Dak Prescott, who managed to suffer a serious enough injury to require a boot.
Speculation has run rampant about the injury. However, fans and analysts can only wait until training camp begins to see exactly how much damage might have been done to the ankle. Even if it isn't 100% to start the offseason there will be close to a month and a half to get it ready for the regular season. At this point, there appears to be little proven reason for fans to panic.
Dak Prescott responds to boot speculation
The quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys is no stranger to the spotlight. However, for every sea of praise cheering him on when things are going well on Sundays, there is another on the other side.
Speaking to reporters, Prescott accused people of "reaching" with their comments:
"Lots of people are reaching, trying to make things that they aren't. I'm getting older. I have to take care of my body. I have to be smart." (0:20)
Of course, admitting that he is getting older and requiring more help to stay healthy sometimes runs the risk of not helping matters. Will speculators be quieted by his performance in training camp? On the other hand, could they have additional reasons for doubt?
