Former Jets HC highlights Jordan Love's inconsistent playstyle for Packers

Green Bay Packers fans and analysts have spent most of the last 11 months praising Jordan Love. However, the Packers quarterback finds himself in hot water as Thanksgiving approaches. Despite helping the team blowout the San Francisco 49ers, critics continue to question the quarterback.

Speaking in a Nov. 25 edition of "Get Up," analyst Rex Ryan expressed his belief that Love could be one of the best quarterbacks, but could be a liability for the team too.

Here's the conversation between himself and Mike Greenberg that got him to suggest that.

Rex Ryan: "He's got a skill set that he could be one of the best quarterbacks in this league. However, he's also got this reckless side. And I think that's why I don't put him in the top two, you know, with Detroit, with Philadelphia," Ryan said. (00:02:14)
"Do they belong there," Mike Greenberg asked.
"If this kid's not turning the ball over, absolutely," Ryan responded. (00:03:00)

Of course, while comparisons to Aaron Rodgers dotted the quarterback's 2023 resume, some have compared him to Brett Favre this season.

Favre was notorious for turning the ball over as often as creating highlight throws. Put simply, he was the definition of a gunslinger. This season, that has arguably been what Love has been.

Early on, the story with Jordan Love was about his Week 1 injury and his recovery. Within the last month, the story has morphed into his ongoing interception streak, coupled with a question of whether granting him a new contract was worth it.

Well, at least when it comes to the interception side of things, that narrative took a hit on Sunday

Love managed to avoid throwing an interception in the 38-10 blowout of the San Francisco 49ers. Heading into the game, Love had thrown an interception in every game since his 24-21 playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers in January of last season.

In other words, it has been quite some time for the young Green Bay Packers quarterback. Packers fans can only hope that this is the start of a new interception-free streak for Love.

Of course, this is easier said than done in the NFL. Will Love continue to tune up his interception totals or will he slide into the same pattern?
