Former Lions QB outlines scenario that could see QB with losing record potentially rip MVP award away from Josh Allen

Josh Allen has had a December to remember. While the entire season will be taken into account when it comes to handing out the MVP award, his most recent play might slam the door shut on everyone else. However, one NFL analyst thinks that one quarterback could crack that door back open.

Speaking on a December 23 edition of "Get Up," NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky pointed out the quarterback he thought has a chance to get a seat at the MVP table.

Dan Orlovsky: [00:10:42] "I would say the only way that it gets cracked [is if] Cincinnati gets in. I think if Cincinnati gets in, Joe Burrow absolutely has a case. He's having an unbelievable season. Cincinnati's play, they were 1-5 at some point or 1-4," he said.
"They play Denver this week. They beat Denver, which means that they'll play Week 18 versus Pittsburgh. ... If they get in, Joe Burrow can absolutely have a seat at that table. There's no doubt about it." [00:11:19][37.0] Get Up

Of course, the biggest lingering question is whether the Bengals can pull off back-to-back upsets over two difficult AFC opponents.

Important caveat puts Joe Burrow's MVP hopes on life support

The Cincinnati Bengals have not given up on their playoff hopes. Joe Burrow's team is 3-0 in its last three games, with wins over the Cowboys, Titans, and Browns.

With those wins, the team is still in range to pull out a winning season and sneak into the playoffs. However, Burrow would need to win out over the next two weeks. They face the Denver Broncos in Week 17, giving Burrow the chance to get a tiebreaking win.

However, then they would need to follow that up with a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The difficult part is Burrow's history this season. The quarterback has not managed to beat a team over .500 all season long. To make the playoffs, he would need to pull off the feat twice in back-to-back games.

Will the Bengals quarterback stun the Broncos to keep his team and MVP hopes alive into the final week?
