Former NFL player Bart Scott shockingly blames Tee Higgins for Damar Hamlin's tragic injury

Damar Hamlin was involved in a terrifying situation on Monday Night Football in Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season. He collapsed on the field following what appeared to be a routine tackle. Medical staff were forced to rush onto the field to perform CPR and use an AED before he was quickly brought to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The entire NFL world is praying for his recovery.

Former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Bart Scott shared a shocking take on the situation during an episode of First Take the morning after the tragic incident:

"How do we get these players help? When we talk about Tee Higgins leaving in his mother's arms because of a feeling of guilt maybe, that he's the one who lowered the helmet. But it's such a routine hit and I think the NFL has done a good job of trying to take the head out of it.
"This is one of the most routine hits I've ever seen. A guy coming in, a tall guy, they lower the helmet and kind of take one in the chest, but you have protection there."

Bart Scott's take on Damar Hamlin's unfortunate injury injury is a shocking one. He clearly implies that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is partially to blame for the injury to the Buffalo Bills safety. He claimed Higgins lowered his helmet and delivered a blow to Hamlin's chest. This is simply not the way the incident played out at all.

Here is a video of the play that immediately preceded Hamlin collapsing:

Damar Hamlin is in critical condition still at this time. Doctors did CPR for a few minutes, and eventually was able to breathe again. Bills and Bengals players were seen crying.

Tee Higgins certainly didn't lower his helmet and hit Damar Hamlin in the chest with it, as Bart Scott claimed. Higgins' shoulder made contact with Hamlin, who was making a routine tackle following a completed pass by Joe Burrow.

To imply Tee Higgins is somehow to blame for what was clearly a freak accident on a clean play is an irresponsible opinion released by Bart Scott.
