Former Steelers star declares “maturity” problem with Jalen Hurts’ head coach

From mocking his own team's fans, to mocking opposing team's fans, to having controversial press conferences, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni can sometimes cause distractions from the team.

While the Eagles are currently 6-2 and have an impressive 40-19 record under Siranni, many believe his antics and his behavior of lashing out at fans and media is a detriment to the team.

Former NFL safety Ryan Clark appeared on "Get Up" this morning to discuss coach Sirianni's "maturity" problem. Clark also said he is the weakest link on the Eagles.

Clark said:

"I don't want to call him the weakest link. That sounds so terrible. I do believe that he's done some questionable things this year based on his leadership. When you think about some of the antics on the sideline and it's almost seems that he's chasing something emotionally with the way he makes decisions throughout games."
"And I think Nick Sirianni, I think it was Dan that may have said this morning on the call something about his level of maturity, right. I think I think it's Nick Sirianni having to figure out that look, you have a team with the talent to win."

During today's press conference, coach Nick Sirianni was asked about why Jalen Hurts missed Wednesday's practice with "rest" as he normally isn't held back by load management.

Sirianni said Hurts has an ankle injury, which prompted an Eagles staff member to remind Sirianni that Jalen Hurts was listed due to rest. Sirianni was then asked if Hurts is dealing with an ankle injury, and he responded "no, rest."

This is an example of what Clark is talking about. Sirianini slipped up and told the media that Hurts is dealing with an ankle injury, which was not disclosed on the injury report. There could be a potential fine.

As we enter Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season, it seems to be a two-team race for the NFC East division between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders.

Not to say that the 3-5 Dallas Cowboys or the 2-7 New York Giants can't make a late-season push, but Washington and Philly seem like they have good chances of making the playoffs.

The Commanders, led by a new regime, head into Week 10 in first place with a 7-2 record. The Eagles are right behind them with a 6-2 record.

This week, the Commanders face the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys. The two teams will then square off in Week 11 for Thursday Night Football.
