Former Super Bowl champ drops scorching review of Joe Burrow's Bengals after loss vs Ravens: "I don't feel sorry for them"
Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals lost a nail biter Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens with the game ended on a controversial two-point conversion attempt. There were potentially two missed penalties against the Ravens on Cincinnati's failed attempt and some questioned the decision to not kick an extra-point to tie the game in regulation.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel said on FS1's "The Facility" Friday morning he doesn't feel bad for the Bengals and their disappointing season thus far. He does feel bad for Bengals' star players Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Trey Hendrickson though.
"I don't feel sorry for the Bengals, but, but what I will do, and this is completely keeping I do feel sorry for Joe Burrow. I do feel sorry for J'Marr Chase, and I do feel sorry for Trey Hendrickson... and they aren't getting it done for them right now, but at the end of the day, you are what your record is, and so unfortunately, you're not beating the good teams. Their record could easily be six and four, but the Ravens were the ones that found in both games a way to win in the fourth quarter. And that is why, in my opinion, the Ravens are a better team."
The Bengals are currently 4-6 and in third place in the AFC North division rankings. Daniel noted both losses to the Ravens this season came late in the fourth quarter and the Bengals could be 6-4 if they had been able to hold on.
Burrow didn't expect calls to be in his favor
While attempting a two-point conversion at the end of Thursday night's game, there were two missed calls that quickly became a hot topic. One was a possible holding call against the Ravens that led to Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki being pushed to the ground. The other was a possible roughing the passer call against the Ravens on Burrow.
After the game, Burrow was asked about the missed calls and said that while there could have been penalties, he never expects the calls to be in his favor.
“I feel like I’ve never really gotten those calls, so I don’t really expect that. I feel like there were a couple that were close, but I don’t really expect those.”
It's worth noting former NFL official Terry McAulay said during the live broadcast both penalties should have been called.
