Former Super Bowl Champion torches Dak Prescott after Cowboys QB listed on IR - "He didn't fight to play"
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The injury forced him to leave the game, and kept him sidelined for the remainder of it.
The initial belief was that the injury was minor, and wouldn't sideline Prescott for much, if any time. Earlier this week, the Cowboys revealed that he will be out for multiple weeks and that Prescott will likely be heading to injured reserve.
Following the news, former NFL wide recevier and Green Bay Packers Super Bowl champion James Jones feels as if Prescott isn't giving his all by playing through the injury.
Jones said via the Facility:
"I do not believe that he fought to play. I do not believe that he's fighting to be out there. I don't because when you just talk about a hamstring injury, and immediately we hear IR, because that's what made me react like that, because I immediately heard I see you on the sideline, and I immediately hear IR and hamstring and I played the game of football."
Jones said he doesn't believe Prescott has "quit" on his team, but questions how hard he tried to fight through the injury.
Jones continued:
"As I watch it quit might be the wrong word, but I do not know how hard he tried to play to be out there for his brothers. I am going to try as hard as I possibly can to be out there for my brothers through any injury, and I played through a bunch of injuries, but in this situation, I don't know how hard he fought to get back out there, but watching it, I don't know. Jack personally, quit might have been the wrong word, but I don't know how hard he has been."
Steelers Super Bowl champion thinks the Cowboys are giving up by sitting Dak Prescott out
James Jones isn't the only one questioning the severity of Dak Prescott's hamstring injury.
Former NFL quarterback 'Big' Ben Roethlisberger thinks that the Cowboys, who are 3-5, are giving up on the rest of the season by sitting Prescott out for an extended period of time.
Roethlisberger said via his Channel Seven podcast:
"They're sending cars to houses out of season. They're already out, even without Dak for a couple of weeks. There's something going on in that organization, whether it's with the coaches, the owner, whatever. I'm not going to speculate one way or the other. But there's something going on, because, in my opinion, that team is better than they're showing."
There's still nine games left in the regular-season, and teams get hot at different times of the year.
With Dak Prescott out for some time, the team will turn to backup quarterback, Cooper Rush. Some think the team should let Trey Lance play, as they gave up a fourth-round pick for him.
The Cowboys led by Rush will face the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend,
