Garrett Wilson goes off on Instagram in frustration after Jets WR's limited targets against Rams
Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets are living the most frustrating season of any NFL team. The wide receiver expected to have a competitive year with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, but as the quarterback struggled on his return, so did the team. They're already eliminated from postseason contention.
Even as the team has no chance of turning this season into nothing positive, the receiver still wants to make his plays and win games. After the Jets' 19-9 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams, a frustrated Wilson took to the Instagram to complain about the current situation of the team:
He finished the game with seven targets, six catches and 54 receiving yards, numbers that don't really do justice to his individual quality. As a comparison, Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, Rodgers' teammates in his previous team, the Green Bay Packers, combined for 18 overall targets.
Garrett Wilson's stats in the 2024 season
He has a great chance of crossing the 1,000-yard mark in the final two games, but individual stats aren't enough for a player who desperately wants to win.
He has 987 receiving yards and six touchdowns this season. With two games to go, it's likely that he'll once again surpass the 1,000-yard mark, but the Jets have won just three games this season, which is a much bigger cause for frustration.
New York Jets' failures in the 2024 season cost jobs of HC, GM
Just five weeks into the season, and with a 2-3 record, owner Woody Johnson decided to change the course of the team and fire head coach Robert Saleh without consulting key decision-makers from the organization. Jeff Ulbrich was made the interim head coach for the remainder of the season, but he hasn't found much success since.
Later, General Manager Joe Douglas was fired. He signed a six-year contract in 2018 that was due to expire after the 2024 season, but Johnson also did not want to wait. During his long tenure, the Jets never made the playoffs, although they added players of Wilson and Sauce Gardner's caliber.
They are currently 3-12 with two weeks to go before closing a disappointing 2024 season.
