Geno Smith claims DK Metcalf has “tightened his diet up” 14 months after report of him eating three bags of candy in a meal

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is known for touchdowns and his over-the-top physique more than anything. However, perhaps the third biggest nugget of information about the Seahawks' top receiver is his diet. Last July, reports surfaced that the receiver enjoyed three bags of candy in a single daily meal on his diet.

However, his quarterback, Geno Smith, mentioned in an interview on "Good Morning Football" that Metcalf has "tightened his diet up."

"He's kind of tightened his diet up a little bit. DK has had a phenomenal offseason. I think he's going to be the best receiver in football. ... I think he's going to be the best in the world," he said.

Metcalf revealed in an interview with NBA legend Kevin Garnett via Business Insider that he drank coffee, ate three bags of candy, and did it daily. Metcalf claimed to love Skittles, including it in his diet.

However, with the diet getting tightened up, it is unclear just how much tweaking has been done. Whether it was saying goodbye to the coffee or just one bag of candy per day, it appears that Metcalf still has plenty of what many would call cheats on his diet.

By this point in his career, DK Metcalf is a name known on a national scale. However, aside from knowing that he's good, many fans are unaware of just how impressive the receiver was in 2023.

In 2022, Metcalf caught 1,048 passing yards and six touchdowns on 90 catches. In 2023, he had just 66 catches. However, he earned both more yards (1,114) and touchdowns (eight) in 2023 than in 2022.

As such, if Geno Smith can get him the ball a bit more this season, Metcalf could be in the running to be one of the top receivers in the game in 2024.

If the Seattle Seahawks find themselves chasing from behind often, Metcalf becomes much more of a factor. However, if the Seahawks play with the lead, they will have fewer strategic reasons to feature him.

Will DK Metcalf statistically live up to Geno Smith's proclamation as the "best in the world?"
