Giants HC Brian Daboll makes feelings clear regarding job security after 7 game losing streak

The New York Giants had a good opportunity to get back in the win column on Thursday, facing division rival, the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams have had struggling seasons, with the Giants among the worst in the NFL.

Heading into the Thanksgiving Day clash, the Giants were riding a six-game losing streak. They extended it to seven with a 27-20 loss to Cowboys, dropping to 2-10 on the season and becoming the first team in the league to lose 10 games. They also became the first team to be officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Despite the ongoing struggles, head coach Brian Daboll isn't worried about his job security.

Daboll said via NJ.com:

"No, I don't like the results. Nobody likes the results. But I have confidence in the people. We've just got to do better."

Could Brian Daboll be out of New York this offseason after winning Coach of the Year in 2022?

It wasn't long ago that Brian Daboll was named Coach of the Year. In his first season as New York's head coach, Daboll helped lead the Giants to the playoffs, securing a wildcard spot.

The Giants finished the 2022 regular season with a 9-7-1 record, their best performance since the 2016 season (11-5.) New York even won a road playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. For his efforts, Daboll was named the 2022 Coach of the Year.

However, Daboll has been unable to replicate that success in the following seasons. In 2023, the Giants finished third in the NFC East with a 6-11 record, and their struggles have carried into this season.

With the Giants at 2-10 and being one of the worst teams in the NFL, Daboll's job security has come into question, and there is speculation he could be let go in the offseason.

Last month, Giants owner John Mara said he didn't plan on making changes to the front office for next season. It will be interesting to see if he stays true to his word, depending on how the rest of the Giants' season unfolds.
