Gisele Bundchen wanted Tom Brady to 'move on' from football after fifth Super Bowl title, claims Mike Florio

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were married for more than a decade before they finally decided to part ways in 2022. One factor that influenced Bundchen's decision to part ways with Brady was due to his 23-season-long NFL career.

The Brazilian model wanted her husband to move on from the NFL after winning the Super Bowl 2017. NFL analyst Mike Florio revealed Gisele Bundchen's unfulfilled wish during the latest episode of "NFL on NBC" podcast. Expressing the same, Mike Florio said:

"Move on. That's what Gisele wanted Tom Brady to do when he got to five Super Bowl wins, courtesy of the 28-3 comeback against the Falcons in the year that he was suspended four games. I remember saying, ‘Hey, this is the perfect opportunity to walk up to Roger Goodell and put the Lombardi trophy in his stomach.’" (4:37)

The conversation about Brady and Gisele Bundchen came when Mike Florio was talking about Patrick Mahomes and his NFL career. Mike Florio recalled a recent statement by the quarterback's mother, Randi Martin. In the statement, she talked about Patrick Mahomes considering retirement if his career began to overshadow his family life, drawing a comparison to Brady.

"I hear him, you know, make comments like, 'If the game takes away from my kids, I might not play as long as Tom Brady,' and I'm like, I'm so proud of him for that," Randi said on the "The Mom Game Podcast."

Mike Florio elaborates on Patrick Mahomes' retirement in regards to Tom Brady

Randi Mahomes appeared on the latest episode of "The Mom Game Podcast," where she talked about Patrick Mahomes' retirement. Recalling Randi's statement on her son's retirement, in regards to Tom Brady, Mike Florio said:

"Randy Mahomes, the mother of Patrick Mahomes, said on a podcast about the possibility that he won't play as long as Tom Brady did. And the thing that would keep from doing it is if his family ever needs him, he won't play, possibly want to be around for his kids go to their activities, their sporting events, Etc." (3:50)

Mike Florio explained that "the idea of giving up your football career" seems very easy to do. But it's not when you are one of the top players in the league. Patrick Mahomes, who's currently one of the most popular and successful quarterbacks, would consider retirement if he surpasses Brady.

"It's easy to say that in the vacuum, the idea of giving up your football career when you are the most famous, most popular, most skilled player currently in the game. One thing that would help him get there is if he would catch Tom Brady and maybe pass him in Super Bowl wins. He gets to seven or eight, nothing more to prove," Mike Florio had said.

Tom Brady played a total of 23 seasons in the NFL after being drafted in 2000. Patrick Mahomes was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 and has played seven seasons in the NFL so far. Mahomes, who has three Super Bowl wins, still has to attain more to surpass Brady.
