"Going to f--king get it fixed" : Travis Kelce remains frustrated over Chiefs 'not scoring enough' during undefeated 2024 run
Travis Kelce is not happy with his team in spite of the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs are dominating the 2024 NFL Season. With each win, the Chiefs move closer to their ultimate goal, a rare Super Bowl three-peat. However, the star tight end is unimpressed with how the Chiefs' offense has been performing.
Ahead of Week 11, Kelce stressed the need for improvement while maintaining their winning streak.
“It’s not where you want to be,” he said in Wednesday's episode of his New Heights podcast. [43:58]
The three-time Super Bowl champion added:
“It is, like I said, it’s frustrating. It is frustrating knowing that we're not scoring enough points right now. And so you got to work for it, baby... you're going to f--king get it fixed.”
That said, Travis Kelce suffered a rocky start at the onset of the 2024 NFL season. In Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3, the Kansas City Chiefs TE was uncharacteristically quiet. He recorded only eight catches for 69 yards and zero touchdowns. The statistics were the lowest in his NFL career for a three-game span.
However, since we are in Week 10, one look at Kelce's stats shows how although he has been steady, his performance has not been as explosive as in past years.
Travis Kelce seems to have picked momentum despite a sloppy start
Over nine NFL games, Travis Kelce has 60 receptions on 76 targets for 499 yards.
Coming to receptions, the TE is a trustworthy target for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. In multiple games, Kelce has surpassed 10 targets and hit double-digit receptions.
Example: Chiefs vs. Buccanneers (Nov. 4) and Chiefs vs. Broncos (Nov. 10)
In Kelce's standout games, he has proven that the TE has the potential to lead the offense, especially in close games, where every yard counts.
Example: 14 catches for 100 yards in Chiefs vs. Buccanneers (16 targets) and 10 catches for 90 yards in Chiefs vs. Raiders.
Talking about yards per reception, it is hovering below his career average (8.3). However, his clutch plays (long reception of 38 yards) against the Chargers have helped the Chiefs with scoring.
Lastly, comes the TDs. One of Kelce’s TDs was executed at a critical point in a game against the Broncos, which helped his team take home a narrow win.
