"Good opportunity to put him in the graveyard": Myles Garrett issues bold warning to Aaron Rodgers as QB joins division rivals
Aaron Rodgers is already drawing a lot of attention following his arrival in Pittsburgh to become the Steelers' new quarterback. After a 10-7 season with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields under center, Rodgers carries high expectations.
The 2025 season could be special for the AFC North division, which sent three teams to the postseason in 2023 and almost did the same last year (the Cincinnati Bengals lost their chance to the Denver Broncos in Week 18).
Rodgers and Co. are a difficult team to assess to many, as some think they can compete and others think the Steelers will fail to make noise again. Myles Garrett, however, is already embracing seeing Aaron Rodgers at least twice next season.
Talking with reporters on Tuesday, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, shared his thoughts about Rodgers joining the NFC North. He had a short but direct response, explaining how excited he was not only about playing but punishing Rodgers.
“I think it’s a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard," Garrett said while reporters laughed.
Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cleveland Browns in Week 6, Sunday, Oct. 12, fresh off their bye week. They'll visit Huntington Bank Field in Week 17, on Sunday, Dec. 28, before their season finale against the Baltimore Ravens.
At this point, these teams have different expectations, but if things click for both, their Week 17 matchup could have major ramifications for the AFC North.
Chad Johnson says Mike Tomlin's future with the Steelers depends on Aaron Rodgers
The Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need a playoff win, which is why they waited for Aaron Rodgers for so long. Mike Tomlin's seat might be warm coming into the 2025 season, and ex-NFL star Chad Johnson believes the head coach could be without his job if the Rodgers experiment doesn't work out.
"If he doesn't play well, you know, players get coaches fired now," Johnson said. "And Tomlin could be on the hot seat for making mistakes. Obviously, he (Aaron Rodgers) made them wait. He had the whole organization waiting. He's coming, and obviously he's signed because they got mini-camp coming up very soon...
"And he wants to be a part of it.... That's a good sign.... That lets me know he's buying in as opposed to what we did last season out there in New York," he added.
There's a lot at stake for both Rodgers and his new head coach.
