Greg Olsen pins his hopes on Tom Brady returning for 2023 NFL season for a hilarious reason
Former NFL tight end Greg Olsen went into the FOX broadcast booth after his retirement from the league. This year, he and Kevin Burkhardt were promoted to the lead team on FOX after Joe Buck and Troy Aikman made the move to ESPN's "Monday Night Football".
But if and when quarterback Tom Brady decides to retire, he already has a 10-year deal worth over $375 million with FOX Sports and a guarantee that he will be in the lead team. This would essentially demote Olsen.
Olsen made an appearance on The Waddle and Silvy radio show on ESPN 1000 this week. He said that he knew what he was signing up for heading into this season and that he wasn't guaranteed the lead team in the future.
He said:
"I don't know if Brady is going to be in the number four booth. We all know the reality. I know what I signed up for this year. My goal, and I said this before the season even started, my goal was to try to do the best job that I could. Give people a fun listen. Give people maybe a little bit of a different perspective and insight into the game."
The broadcaster went on to say that he is just focused on the remainder of this season, which includes the opportunity to call the Super Bowl. He jokingly finished by saying that he hopes Tom Brady signs a five-year deal this offseason and even volunteered to help with salary cap space to make it happen.
He said:
"Hopefully people enjoy it as much as they have these last couple games. And that obviously culminates in a few weeks in the Super Bowl. So, I’m just going to enjoy these last couple weeks."
"I hope Brady signs a five-year deal with somebody. I’ll be the first guy there. I’ll give ’em some cap room to make it work. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there."
Greg Olsen says it would "suck" if Tom Brady retires which could push him out of his FOX broadcasting booth.

NFL reporter shows support for Greg Olsen with lead FOX team
Tom Brady signed a long-term deal with FOX Sports last spring after deciding to 'unretire' and return to the National Football League. Around the same time, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman left the network and went to ESPN.
That move then promoted Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen to the lead team, which has become quite successful. As Brady continues to weigh his options and decide whether or not he's ready to step away from the game, Olsen's job is also hanging in the balance.
NFL reporter Albert Breer showed support for the former NFL tight end on Twitter this week. He said that he knows that Brady will eventually join the FOX Sports team, but that Greg Olsen's performance proves he has what it takes. Breer said:

With support from those around him in the NFL and fans' opinion, FOX Sports may have their work cut out for them when deciding on a spot for Brady when he does join the broadcast booth.
