Haason Reddick breaks silence amid missing Jets minicamp over contract issues: "Stop believing the foolery"

Haason Reddick is absent from the mandatory minicamp with the New York Jets. He is not the only player missing, but he is one of the top Jets' defenders. Reddick has been trying to get a new contract, and holding out of camps like this is something NFL players do quite often.

However, the player himself has seen the news surrounding his absence and is taking to social media to give his side of the story. He implores fans not to believe everything they see.

Reddick tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter:

"Stop believing the foolery y’all see on these social media apps and news outlets. Running crazy narratives and y’all eating it up."

Reddick came over in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been one of the league's most productive edge rushers in the last few seasons, but he's struggled to find a long-term home during that time.

The 29-year-old would like to get that done with the Jets, but hasn't had any luck yet. He is reportedly staying away from the team but wants fans and social media followers to know that the narrative might not be the reality.

The Jets traded longtime starting defensive end John Franklin-Myers to the Denver Broncos during the NFL Draft. This was done to clear up a roster spot in the lineup and to provide cap relief to bring Reddick on.

Robert Saleh speaks on Haason Reddick's absence

Robert Saleh has addressed the different absences that his New York Jets are dealing with, including Aaron Rodgers. Haason Reddick was not with the team during OTAs and is not present for the mandatory minicamp either.

Saleh said via ESPN:

"I'm focused on the guys who are here and Haason's a pro. He's been in this league a while. He's produced it at a very high level for a long time. He's got his routine and if it makes people feel better, we know where he's at, we know what he's doing and we know he's working his tail off to get where he needs to get you to have a productive '24 season."

Saleh said both players' absences are unexcused and that they'd likely be subject to a fine for it.
