"He better turn into Prime Kelce": NFL fans react to Dalton Kincaid's 'fruitful' minicamp report
Early into NFL minicamp, Dalton Kincaid is turning heads with his strong play. The Buffalo Bills tight end’s performances caught the attention of players and fans.
On X, fans weighed-in about Kincaid's strong showings.
“MAGA Kincaid better turn into Prime Kelce this year or we’re shipping him off to Venus,” a fan tweeted.
“Yes! I love this for him. He’s going to make his mark this season,” one fan wrote.
“So far this is all he’s been, a practice all star. Hope to see some production on the field this year. Been a huge disappointment thus far. Pretty close to being a bust for where he was drafted,” another fan wrote.
Kincaid set a single-season franchise record for most catches by a tight end, and most rookie receptions (73) in his first year.
However, his production declined significantly last season, as he went from 673 yards receiving in 2023 to 448 yards in 2024. He is entering his third year, which was a strong one for Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs star posted 875 yards through the air in 2015.
On Thursday, Kincaid had two impressive touchdown catches and was used in various offensive packages.
"The Dalton Kincaid show was in full effect at #Bills Thursday mandatory minicamp," Bills Digest's Alex Brasky tweeted. "Kincaid leapt to make two impressive touchdown grabs during team drills, including one over CB Taron Johnson and another over S Darrick Forrest — both in corners of the end zone.
"The third-year TE caught a third TD over the middle near the back of the end zone with Taylor Rapp in coverage. It’s been a fruitful spring and summer for Kincaid #BillsMafia"
However, some were skeptical about him stepping up in big moments and staying healthy next season.
“Let’s see him do that when it counts,” one fan commented.
“If he’s fully healthy his potential will be unlocked this season,” a fan said.
“Training camp against our amazing defense, they usually do great... as the opponents in the playoffs,” another fan wrote.
Kincaid played 13 games in the 2024 regular season, missing some time with a knee injury. In the playoffs, his numbers weren't great, recording eight receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown in 2023. Kincaid put up four catches for 58 yards with no scores in the previous postseason.
Bills GM changes stance on Dalton Kincaid
The 2024 campaign ended in disappointing fashion for the Buffalo Bills. Dalton Kincaid got the brunt of criticism for a dropped pass in their AFC championship defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.
After the game, Bills general manager Brandon Beane talked about what the tight end needs to improve on.
"He's (Kincaid) gonna have to continue to work on his play strength,” Beane said in January.
On Friday, Beane had glowing remarks about Kincaid.
“He has definitely added strength and bulk," Beane said, via Sports Illustrated. "He's in a stronger position than he was at this time a year ago.”
He added that he felt his comments after the AFC title game were too strong.
“I think I was a little over critical,' Beane said. "I could have probably done a better job.”
The Bills are among the favorites to win the AFC next season and will open the preseason on Aug. 9 at Highmark Stadium against the New York Giants.
