"He only cares about himself": Browns' Greg Newsome blasts George Pickens after Steelers WR failed to recognize CB

Greg Newsome added fuel to the heated rivalry between the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The two teams are clashing for the second and final time in the 2024 NFL regular season on Sunday, and two of their best players are going at it.

Newsome reacted to George Pickens' remarks about him with a strong message, calling out the wide receiver for caring more about himself than his team, which is often costly for the Browns.

"He's a guy that cares more so about himself (than his team)," Newsome otold reporters on Friday.
"And you can see that in the penalties that he causes. For me, my job is to try to do whatever I can to help the team win. So there's never gonna be no 1-on-1 battle for me. My battle is to try to help my team get the win."

Newsome was asked about whether Pickens' comments fueled him ahead of Sunday's game.

"He does that type of stuff all the time," he added. "There will never be a man that ever can fuel me in any type of way. Definitely not."

The veteran cornerback responded to George Pickens downplaying him and claiming that he didn't know who Greg Newsome was in front of reporters.

"I don't even know who that is," the Steelers' receiver said on Friday.

The first time the two teams clashed this season, the Browns won 24-19 in a game played in snow. They lost their next duel to the Denver Broncos, but considering how they played against the Steelers, not everybody should be confident that they can get an easy win against Cleveland.

Meanwhile, players engaged in a verbal battle only makes the game more interesting.

Greg Newsome has clapback at George Pickens' shade

After learning that George Pickens refused to acknowledge him, Greg Newsome took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a screenshot of Pickens sending him a message on Instagram, presumably hyping him up. Moreover, Newsome mocked Pickens and called him a clown (emoji).

George Pickens didn't have the best day against the Browns a couple of weeks earlier, as he only caught four passes for 48 passing yards, while Greg Newsome finished with three total tackles for the Browns. On Sunday, we should see an electrifying duel between the two.
