Bill Belichick takes aim at Joe Burrow's $275,000,000 contract after 0-2 start: "He fumbles every week"

Like last season, the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow are off to an 0-2 start through the first two games of the season.

Burrow is playing better than he did last season through two games, as he's thrown for 422 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, completing 67.7 percent of his passes. However, he has fumbled the ball three times this season, including losing a fumble for a fumble recovery touchdown.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show for his weekly appearance, former NFL head coach Bill Belichick was critical of Burrow's turnovers and poor job of protecting the football. He said that the Bengals won't win football games if Burrow has a fumbling issue and that Burrow has to protect the ball better.

Belichick said:

"Joe Burrow is another one — look at some point for Cincinnati to win, I mean, he's got to stop fumbling the ball. And he's fumbled the ball every week. And gave up a pick-six last week on a strip fumble, after fumbling the week before against the Patriots.... And look, quarterbacks are going to get hit, but it's up to them to really protect the ball and take care of the football and stop fumbling it away. So it's hard to win when you're turning the ball over, especially in those situations."

Last season, Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals were in the same positon. The Bengals lost their first two games of the season to the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens, but avoided an 0-3 start with a Week 3 win against the Los Angeles Rams.

This season, they're in the same position heading into their Monday night Week 3 game against the Washington Commanders. The Bengals have lost to the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs in their first two games.

Tonight, they'll have the chance to avoid an 0-3 start when they face the Commanders. The Bengals will have the luxury of playing home tonight in Cincinnati, with kickoff set at 8:15 p.m. ET.

The Bengals are heavy favorites with the over/under line set at 46.5 points. Washington, being 1-1, will look to jump to a winning record with a win tonight.
