"He looks damn good to me" - When Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany challenged unflattering media coverage during Chiefs' Super Bowl LV loss
Patrick Mahomes and his family are no strangers to usual hate tweets and trolls. While Brittany Mahomes has been under fire for her words in the past, she has more often than not stood by her them. Of course, she has also stepped up to defend Patrick and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Furthermore, Brittany's candid responses aren't just limited to random followers and trolls on Twitter. She hasn't hesitated before calling out publications, along with other celebrities if need be.
Back in 2021, the Chiefs suffered a 31-9 loss in the Super Bowl game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trolls praised Tom Brady for his seventh ring, while Mahomes was called out for the landslide loss. Brittany took to Twitter to call out the media coverage, deeming it unfair towards Patrick Mahomes.
One of these tweets called out ESPN, sarcastically thanking them for the coverage Mahomes received for such an important game. Even though the Chiefs QB is one of the younger athletes in the league, he has easily made a name for himself. She wrote:
"Cool ESPN, love the support of a major sports platform for one of the best players in the league"
She even mentioned a few other media houses and sites, referring to them as trash for the way they portrayed Mahomes:
"Y’all are [trash] for this too, but he looks damn good to me"
Despite the result, Brittany added that she would always be proud of Mahomes, especially as he “played his heart out”.
Brittany didn't hold back against the Cincinati mayor's comment against Patrick Mahomes
Before the Chiefs secured their Super Bowl spot, they had to face their rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Super Bowl only a few days away, fans on social media left no stone unturned with their trash talk.
However, mayor Aftab Pureval ended up offending people. In a video message, Pureval compared Patrick Mahomes to Joe Burrow, confident that their team would win again. He said:
"Joseph Lee Burrow, who's 3-0 against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test confirming whether or not he's his father"
Brittany snapped back on Twitter, referring to the whole incident as weird. She even agreed with KC mayor Quinton Lucas, calling Pureval's attempt at trash talk 'weak' and 'embarrassing'.
Other fans, including Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet, was irked by how far the video went. Even Bengals fans were unhappy, letting their mayor know that this was not funny. Ultimately, mayor Pureval issued an apology to Bengals fans for getting a little too excited about the game.
The Chiefs won 23-20.
