How much money did the Cowboys make from NFL revenue? 2023 figures highlight league's financial health

The Dallas Cowboys are notably known as one of the wealthiest teams in the National Football League. The earnings for the 2023 NFL season were recently released and Dallas, along with the other 31 teams in the league, had a big pay day.

According to a recent report from Sportico, the Dallas Cowboys and every other team in the league received $400 million+ in revenue for the 2023 NFL season.

This amount is derived from the NFL's broadcast deals with NBC, CBS, FOX Sports, NBC, Amazon and ESPN. It also includes the revenue from the over three dozen sponsors the NFL has, which includes brands like FedEx, Lowes and Gatorade to name a few.

Every NFL team is now worth at least $4 billion each. The national revenue that every team received for the 2023 NFL season has increased by 115% over the last decade, as sponsorship, broadcast deals and royalties continue to flourish.

How much are the Cowboys worth in 2024?

The Dallas Cowboys remain the highest valued professional sports team in 2024. According to a report from Sportico in March, the Cowboys will head into the 2024 NFL season worth $9.2 billion. The evaluation is nearly two billion more than Dallas' NFC East rival, the New York Giants who come in at second, worth an estimated $7.04 billion

To put that number into perspective, team owner Jerry Jones bought the NFL franchise for $150 million in 1989 from former owner H.R. Bright. At the time, Dallas was seen as a failing franchise unable to win. Jones immediately revamped the organization, which included firing Tom Landry in favor of Jimmie Johnson.

The draft selections of Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin among others led to a dynasty in Dallas that went on to win three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s.

Although Dallas hasn't won a title in over two decades, Jerry Jones has created the wealthiest professional sports team in North America.
