How Taylor Swift helped NFL franchises make $4,000,000 a night: Report
Taylor Swift has been everywhere recently, including spending plenty of time at NFL stadiums. She sold out plenty of them for her Eras Tour's domestic leg, and she spent time as a fan watching Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs play games.
That all had a profound financial impact. Singapore's main bank said Swift's trip to their country boosted its GDP during that time. The Fed of Philadelphia said tourism was way up for her visit as well. NFL owners also saw an influx of money thanks to the singer.
Teams made it big with concessions, parking, and merchandise at the sold-out shows every night, every weekend, for months. Premium seating revenue took off as well thanks to local businesspeople and celebrities trying to get into the Eras Tour. A report from Sportico detailed that teams took in $4 million or more per night after expenses for Swift’s concerts.
That means that, for example, the Tennessee Titans netted $12 million from her stop at Nissan Stadium, which went for three nights. Not all teams, like the Carolina Panthers, got to host Swift, but those that did came away strong.
NFL ratings were up partly as a result of Swift's appearances. Fans at home were often watching to catch a glimpse of the singer, and networks were happy to oblige whenever Kelce made a play worthy of praise.
Ultimately, the biggest financial impact she had on the NFL was just through her shows. All 53 shows in the USA were at NFL stadiums. The singer did take home almost all ticket revenue, which was essentially sold out everywhere. Teams, on the other hand, got a rental fee for housing the shows.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are there to support each other's careers
Despite their busy schedules, both Kelce and Swift remain determined to show up and support each other. Of course, this includes Swift attending Chiefs games, and Kelce showing up at Eras Tour shows.
During an interview with TIME, Swift spoke about the same, and how their focus is to cheer the other own.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care," Swift said.
"The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other".
Apart from Swift attending multiple Chiefs games, Kelce has flown out to places like Australia, Singapore, London and Amsterdam for Swift's concerts. With the 2024 NFL season approaching, one can only expect more such appearances from the power couple.
