"I love it": Jets WR Garrett Wilson joins Caitlin Clark hive as Fever rookie drops 29-point double-double

New York Jets star Garrett Wilson took some time off from prepping for the 2024 NFL season to catch a WNBA game this weekend and he chose a pretty damn good one to tune into.

Wilson witnessed Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark drop a 29-point double-double against the Phoenix Mercury in a 98-89 win in what was Clark's first game since her snub from the women's basketball team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The Jets playmaker tweeted in the aftermath:

"Caitlin Clark 30 ball against Turasi [sic] last night. I love it man, I love it."

Wilson added a point to Clark's tally against Phoenix, but nonetheless, Clark joined an illustrious class of athletes after leading the Fever to the win.

Only Michael Jordan (twice) and Steph Curry (four times) recorded 29 points, five rebounds and 10 assists on 70% TS on multiple occasions before Clark joined the club this weekend. Even NBA legend Kevin Garnett was wowed by Caitlin Clark's showing vs the Mercury. Garnett tweeted:

"What if Caitlin Clark's Olympic break was the off-season adjustment for the league that WNBA rookies don't get before their first season.
"Sh*t looked crazy out there yesterday. Can tell she was in the film room."

Garrett Wilson's Jets resume preseason prep

It appears to be a make-or-break year for the New York Jets in 2024.

Aaron Rodgers will be all of 41 years old when the season peaks in December, which means the Jets have a short window to chase the Super Bowl with the young core they've assembled to bring the four-time NFL MVP to town.

Rodgers hasn't played in both of the Jets' preseason games so far. But head coach Robert Saleh left the door open for Rodgers to feature in their final preseason outing against the New York Giants.

The Jets will look to put a noisy offseason behind them as they enter Week 1. Garrett Wilson was also involved in one of those pesky events when he and Rodgers had a mini faceoff in training camp over some routes. A video of the pair bickering swiftly went viral, though Rodgers later dismissed rumors of a rift with Wilson as "a lot of bulls**t."
