“I’m in deep s—t” – Tyreek Hill’s blazing 60m track stunt left competitor stunned
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill shocked everyone last week when he entered the 60-meter race at the USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships.
Hill, who competed in track and field in high school, decided to put his speed to the test. He ran the 60 meters in 6.70 seconds, while the second-placed runner in the heat clocked in at 7.27 seconds. That time ranks him at about 213th fastest in the world, not bad for an athlete who hasn't competed in track in nearly a decade.
On Tuesday morning, one of his competitors, Curtis Bell, who was referred to as "Pants" because he wore pants to compete in the 60 meters, joined the Dan Le Batard Show.
Bell talked about the moment he realized that he would be competing against the wide receiver. Stating that he instantly knew he was in trouble when Hill's name popped up in the lineup.
"I signed up for fun. Saw (Tyreek Hill's) name pop up, and I was like, well, I'm in deep sh*t."
Bell admitted that much like Tyreek Hill, he entered the 60-meter race 'just for fun' and wasn't trying to qualify for any other race or competition. He said that he hadn't raced a 60-meter race since high school, which was about nine years earlier.
Bell also said that he had never claimed to be a fast runner and that he just thought it would be a fun experience. But then when one of the fastest players in the NFL showed up, he knew that it may not be that fun after all.
Who has the fastest recorded 40-yard dash in the NFL?
The 40-yard dash is always one of the most watched aspects of the NFL Combine each year. While Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek HIll is one of the fastest players in the NFL, he surprisingly didn't have the fastest time in the race.
To date, wide receiver John Ross is the current holder of the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine.
Ross ran a 4.22 in the dash at the 2017 NFL Combine, a time that has yet to be broken. Cornerback Kalon Barnes nearly broke Ross' record at the 2022 NFL Combine when he ran the dash in 4.23 seconds. Michigan Wolverines' defensive back D.J. Turner had the fastest 40 yard dash time at the 2023 NFL Combine, running it in 4.26 seconds.
