“I’m kind of done": Bears' Cole Kmet delivers eye-opening response after 34-17 loss to Lions
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet was disheartened after their brutal 34-17 loss against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. It was their ninth consecutive loss.
Following the matchup, Kmet was asked if he took any positives from the game. He responded to reporters but was visibly frustrated.
"I mean, I'm kind of done doing that," Kmet said. "You know, I have been through this now, you know, two years ago. I felt like you're trying to find positive things, and, you know, it's hard for me to, like, be real with myself and find positives when it's 34-17."
The Detroit Lions led from the start. The Bears tried to make a comeback in the second quarter but struggled in the second half and ultimately lost by a big margin.
Cole Kmet lauds praise to Caleb Williams despite the loss against Lions
While the loss was tough for the Bears, they still had some highlights, especially from rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. He recorded two touchdowns and also threw for 334 yards.
Following the game, Cole Kmet praised Williams for continuing to step up.
"You know, it's important for younger guys to take steps up, and that's cool to see Caleb able to do that, but I mean, at the end, it's 34-17," Kmet said. "It's not good enough. You know, we got to be able to finish these things out.
"The guys come to work ready to roll here, and we got a quick turnaround Thursday, and you know, hopefully, that everyone kind of takes some onus on themselves to come in and just try to do what they can and put some really good stuff on tape."
Chicago's losing streak started on Oct. 27 against Washington. Their nine consecutive losses is the second-longest skid in team history.
The Bears will be back in action on Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks, where they'll look to finally get back to their winning ways.
